Education & Training Institutions Membership
A membership pathway for universities, technical colleges, training centers, and academies to align curricula and delivery with industry-recognized quality practices through committee collaboration and IAQC oversight.
Purpose and fit
IAF membership for Education & Training Institutions supports organizations that develop workforce capability for the automotive and mobility ecosystem. This includes academic programs, vocational training, professional development, and continuing education that relate to quality management, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, safety culture, and related disciplines.
IAF is a membership-based federation and does not act as a regulator. Any IAF recognition is available only after membership and is subject to committee review and International Automotive Quality Council (IAQC) oversight.
What member institutions can participate in
Participation options are designed to help institutions map learning outcomes to practical expectations, improve training governance, and collaborate with industry and academic peers on consistent delivery.
Curriculum alignment workshops
Structured sessions to map modules, learning outcomes, and assessment methods to agreed industry practices (e.g., quality fundamentals, process discipline, problem-solving, and risk-based thinking).
Training documentation and governance
Guidance on maintaining controlled training materials, versioning, instructor qualification records, and evidence of delivery—supporting consistent outcomes across cohorts and locations.
Recognition pathway (post-membership)
A defined route for eligible institutions to request IAF recognition of specific programs or training schemes, following committee review and IAQC oversight after membership is in place.
Industry–academia collaboration channels
Participation in working groups to share needs, update competency expectations, and coordinate guest lectures, capstone topics, and applied research themes relevant to quality and operations.
Typical eligibility and evidence
Education & Training Institutions typically demonstrate an established training operation (or accredited academic unit), defined programs or course catalog, and a governance approach for instructor competence, assessment integrity, and continuous improvement. Institutions may be public or private and may deliver in-person, blended, or online formats.
During membership onboarding, institutions may be asked to provide program outlines, learning outcome mappings, sample materials, delivery controls, and feedback/measurement processes. Where recognition is requested, the scope is reviewed by the relevant committee and escalated as needed under IAQC oversight.
How this connects to IAF governance
Member institutions engage through IAF committees and topic working groups that define participation criteria, review requests, and maintain consistency across regions and delivery models. Any IAF recognition or listing is issued only after membership and follows documented committee review with International Automotive Quality Council (IAQC) oversight to ensure transparency and comparability.
