The International Automotive Federation (IAF) announces the establishment of World Automotive Day, a global awareness day to be observed every year on 8 February.
World Automotive Day is conceived as an international reference point for the automotive and mobility ecosystem, recognising the sector’s vital role in public safety, technological advancement, environmental responsibility and societal well-being.
Through this annual observance, IAF aims to bring together manufacturers, regulators, research and academic institutions, testing organisations, mobility innovators and individual professionals under a shared commitment to safer, more sustainable and more transparent automotive systems.
The day highlights key pillars shaping the future of mobility, including vehicle safety performance, structural integrity, digital systems reliability, cybersecurity, sustainability and emissions, electric and alternative powertrains, smart mobility solutions and long-term consumer trust.
As a neutral and non-commercial federation, IAF positions World Automotive Day as a platform for awareness, dialogue and cooperation rather than promotion. Activities associated with the day may include expert communications, technical publications, educational initiatives and collaborative programs aligned with IAF standards and evaluation frameworks.
By establishing World Automotive Day, IAF reinforces its commitment to continuous improvement across the global automotive sector and provides a consistent annual moment to reflect on shared responsibility, innovation and progress for the benefit of all road users.
World Automotive Day is observed annually on 8 February.
