The International Automotive Federation (IAF) has announced its main strategic priorities for 2027, following discussions held during and after the 2nd Ordinary General Assembly.
The new period will focus on stronger committee coordination, international participation, technical development, membership growth and responsible cooperation across the automotive and mobility sector.
Building the next phase of federation development
The priorities for 2027 reflect the continued institutional development of the federation and the growing role of its committees, members and technical participants.
During recent meetings, federation leadership and committee representatives reviewed the progress made during 2026 and discussed the areas that require greater coordination in the next working period.
The 2027 direction is designed to support a more connected, structured and internationally representative federation.
Strategic priorities for 2027
-
Committee development and coordination
Strengthening communication between committees, working groups and the General Secretariat.
-
International participation
Increasing meaningful participation from organisations, institutions, professionals and sector stakeholders.
-
Technical work
Supporting structured technical discussions on automotive safety, quality, sustainability, digital systems and future mobility.
-
Membership development
Continuing structured membership review and improving participation opportunities for eligible organisations and professionals.
Stronger technical and institutional coordination
A major objective for 2027 will be to create stronger links between technical activities and institutional decision-making. Committees will be encouraged to develop clear work programmes and identify areas where international cooperation can create value.
The General Secretariat will continue to support coordination, documentation and communication between the different parts of the federation.
Supporting responsible growth
Membership growth will remain an important part of the strategy, but the federation will continue to place emphasis on relevance, contribution and appropriate representation.
The objective is not only to increase participation. The objective is also to develop a strong international community that can contribute knowledge, experience and practical perspectives to the work of the federation.
