This statement sets out our commitments to transparency, accountability, donor rights, and responsible stewardship of contributions. It is intended for public disclosure on our website and in donor communications.
The International Automotive Federation (IAF) is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt public charity under IRC §501(c)(3).
Keep your donation receipt for your records. This page will reflect any future updates to our exempt status.
Donations to the International Automotive Federation (EIN: 36-51359xx) are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by U.S. law. IAF is recognized as a public charity under IRC §501(c)(3) with classification 509(a)(2). We issue written acknowledgments/receipts for all contributions of $250 or more (and upon request for smaller gifts).
Bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts are also eligible under IRC §§2055, 2106, and 2522.
Unless expressly stated for events or sponsorships, no goods or services were provided in exchange for a donation. Where benefits apply, our receipt will disclose the fair market value and treat the balance as a deductible contribution.
Outside of the United States, gifts are handled under the laws of the relevant jurisdiction. U.S. taxpayers can make tax-deductible contributions directly to IAF’s U.S. 501(c)(3) entity noted above.
All contributions support our charitable purpose and programmatic priorities as approved by the Board.
We honor donor restrictions. If a restricted project becomes impracticable, funds may be reallocated to the closest charitable purpose after seeking donor consent or, where appropriate, offering a refund.
Donors and sponsors do not direct editorial content, standard-setting outcomes, accreditation decisions, or policy positions.
Acceptance of a gift does not imply endorsement of a donor's products, services, or activities.
We maintain prudent operating reserves and aim to maximize program impact while ensuring robust governance, technology, and compliance capabilities.
Our IRS Form 990 and audited financial statements are made available upon request and, where applicable, on our website.
We publish an annual report summarizing programs, results, major initiatives, and financial highlights.
Our key policies (conflict of interest, whistleblower protection, document retention, gift acceptance, and donor privacy) are available upon request.
We accept gifts by:
The acceptance of other assets (closely held stock, cryptoassets, real property, IP, vehicles, equipment) is subject to due diligence and Board-approved criteria.
Donors are responsible for independent valuations and any filing obligations. We may decline a gift that imposes undue restrictions, costs, or risks inconsistent with our mission or policies.
In-kind support (e.g., equipment, professional services, media rights) must be pre-approved and documented; we acknowledge the contribution but do not assign dollar values on receipts.
We acknowledge contributions promptly and accurately. Donors may elect to remain anonymous; we will honor anonymity to the extent permitted by law and our auditors.
We collect only necessary donor data, store it securely, restrict access, and retain it no longer than needed. We do not sell or rent donor data. Limited sharing with trusted processors (payment providers, mailing services, auditors) is governed by contracts and confidentiality obligations.
Donors may opt out of communications at any time via [email protected].
We comply with applicable anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws and conduct reasonable sanctions screening (e.g., against U.S. OFAC lists) for certain gifts or counterparties.
We prohibit bribes, improper inducements, and conflicts of interest. Staff and directors are subject to a Board-approved Conflict of Interest Policy.
Concerns may be reported confidentially through [email protected]; retaliation is prohibited.
We follow a documented schedule for records retention and secure disposal.
Our Board of Directors exercises fiduciary oversight, approves strategy and budgets, and ensures compliance. The Audit/Finance Committee oversees the audit, risk management, and internal controls.
Executive compensation is reviewed for reasonableness against appropriate comparables and approved by independent members of the Board.
Accreditation and standard-setting functions are governed by codified rules and impartial panels; donor influence is excluded from technical decisions.
If a donation is made in error or processed incorrectly, please contact [email protected] within 30 days for correction or refund where legally permissible.
Refund terms are disclosed in event or sponsorship agreements and may differ from general donations.
See Section 2 for reallocation/consent procedures.
We aim to acknowledge gifts within 5–10 business days; year-end consolidated receipts are available upon request.
With donor permission, significant contributions may be recognized in reports, plaques, or digital listings; donors may opt for anonymity.
Copies of our Form 990, audited financial statements, and key policies are available upon request.
