IAF Development Projects

Early-stage initiatives shaping safer, greener and smarter mobility. Built with expert committees, universities and industry partners, these projects progress through structured research, prototyping and pilot phases before public rollout.

IAF’s development program advances cross‑disciplinary projects with structured phases—scoping, research, pilot design, field trials and publication. Expert committees with universities, laboratories, certification bodies, technology companies and public authorities guide each milestone and review outcomes before public release.

IAF-CAP NextGen

Target: 2028 Q1 (pilot)

A next-generation assessment beyond crash testing, covering autonomous performance, cybersecurity resilience and AI decision reliability. Results will be transparently published to enhance consumer trust and support future recognition frameworks.

Committees with ADAS/AD experts, cyber labs, universities, regulators.
Planned phases: lab and track protocols → pilot cohort → public scoring model v1.

IAF Green Mobility Index

Target: 2027 Q2 (version 1.0)

A global index evaluating full life-cycle carbon impact—from production and use to end-of-life. Integrated with a Green Label scheme to guide policies and consumer choice with verifiable metrics.

LCA academics, material scientists, OEM sustainability leads, public agencies.
Planned phases: boundary definition → data model → regional pilots → index release v1.

Global Autonomous Vehicle Ethics Code

Target: 2028 Q1 (consultation draft)

An international framework for ethical decision-making in autonomous systems, providing clear guidance for governments and manufacturers on transparency, accountability and human-centric safety principles.

Ethicists, legal scholars, technical committees, cities and safety authorities.
Planned phases: principles → stakeholder consultation → pilot governance toolkit.

IAF Digital Car Passport

Target: 2028 Q3

A secure digital identity for each vehicle with verified records: production data, testing, emissions, maintenance and incidents. Designed to increase transparency in secondary markets and support compliance reporting.

Blockchain architects, conformity assessment bodies, OEM IT, insurers.
Planned phases: schema design → data integrations → limited market pilot.

IAF Mobility Data Hub

Target: 2028 Q2 (beta)

A global platform aggregating anonymized traffic, crash, charging and energy data. AI-driven insights will serve city planning, risk assessment and infrastructure investment decisions.

Universities, city data offices, DSO/TSO partners, safety researchers.
Planned phases: data governance → ingestion pipelines → dashboards & insights.

Global Recall & Safety Alert System

Target: 2027 Q3 (notification core)

A centralized hub for vehicle recalls and urgent safety alerts. A consumer-facing app will allow status checks and direct notifications from manufacturers and regulators.

OEM quality teams, market surveillance, regulators, consumer orgs.
Planned phases: data feeds → validation → public API & consumer app pilot.

IAF Smart Mobility Sandbox

Target: 2028 Q1 (open calls)

A supervised test & simulation environment for start-ups, universities and manufacturers to trial EV batteries, autonomous software and advanced materials, with accelerator pathways for promising teams.

Start-ups, labs, OEM R&D, accelerators, standards bodies.
Planned phases: facility setup → simulator stack → pilot cohorts.
